The ladder comprises a front side having a first front rail, a second front rail and at least one step connected to the first and second front rails and perpendicular therewith. The ladder also comprises a rear side having a first rear rail, a second rear rail adjacent to and in parallel with the first rear rail, and at least one support connected to the first and second rear rails and perpendicular therewith. Additionally, the ladder is comprised of a ladder top to which the first and second front rails of the front side and the first and second rear rails of the rear side are connected such that the front side and rear side can be in an open state during use and in a closed state during storage or transport. The ladder is comprised of a pail shelf. Moreover, the ladder is comprised of a first connector and a second connector attached to the ladder pail shelf and attached to the horizontal member connected to the first rear rail and second rear rail, respectively, and contacting the one step so the pail shelf is maintained essentially in parallel with ground when the front and rear sides are in an open state, with the pail shelf and first connector and second connector maintained in parallel with the rails and between the front side and rear side when they are in a closed state. The pail shelf for a ladder comprises a top portion having a top surface upon which a pail can rest. The pail shelf also has top snaps. The pail shelf is additionally comprised of a bottom portion having bottom snaps which mate with the top snaps of the top portion. The bottom portion is connected to the top portion and held together by the bottom snaps and top snaps mated together. Preferably, the bottom portion conforms with the top portion. The present invention pertains to a method of forming a ladder pail shelf. The method comprises the steps of aligning top snaps of a top portion having a top surface upon which a pail can rest with bottom snaps of a bottom portion which mate with the top snaps of the top portion. Then there is the step of snapping together the top snaps of the top portion with the bottom snaps of the bottom portion so the top portion and bottom portion are connected together and form the ladder pail shelf.
