A snap-in, tamper proof LED lamp includes a lens and a rear housing and can be easily installed within a aperture of a vehicle. The real housing of the LED lamp provides flexible tabs which are compressed as the lamp is mounted. If upon mounting the flexible tabs are accessible, a ring shaped lock can be affixed to prevent compression of the tabs and therefore prevent removal of the lamp from the aperture. Recesses are provided between the lens and the housing. If an attempt is made to remove the LED lamp from the aperture without depressing the tabs, the recesses cause the lens of the LED lamp to break. The irreparable damage caused to the LED lamp serves to deter future attempts to steal the LED lamps.
