The invention relates to payout devices attached to containers for dispensing strand-like or filamentary material using from a wound coil in the container, particularly to such payout devices where a hollow feed tube guide (payout tube) is inserted through a holde in the wall panel of the container and pushed into locking engagement with a locking collar. A two-piece, push-on payout tube comprises the payout tube and a locking collar which can be snap-fastened together on opposite sides of the wall of a container. They remain in a permanently locked position and provide a smooth radius between the edge of the payout tube and the locking collar to prevent a sharp bend in the filamentary material being withdrawn from the container and from the payout tube.
