A tool is provided for ensuring that a snap ring fitted within an internally opening groove in a cylinder, such as a hydraulic cylinder, is properly seated within the groove. The tool includes a rim defining a radial shoulder and an axial projecting portion. The radial shoulder engages the radial surface of the snap ring to press the snap ring axially against an opposing radial shoulder within the cylinder to help flatten and align the snap ring while the axially projecting portion extends through the snap ring. A handle is mounted on the hub and engages inner ends of radially extending spokes, while a coil spring biases the handle outwardly from the hub to keep the spokes normally withdrawn. Upon pressing the handle axially against the bias of the coil spring, the spokes extend radially to engage the inner periphery of the snap ring to thereby shove the snap ring home within the groove. Upon pulling the handle, the spokes retract out of engagement with the snap ring and the tool is withdrawn from within the snap ring and hydraulic cylinder
Cette invention concerne un outil permettant de bien caler un circlip dans une gorge intérieure d'un vérin, un vérin hydraulique par exemple. L'objet de l'invention comprend un rebord définissant un épaulement radial et une saillie axiale. L'épaulement radial s'appuie sur une surface radiale du circlip pour pousser celui-ci axialement contre un épaulement radial à l'intérieur du vérin et l'aplatir et l'aligner alors que la saillie axiale précitée pénètre à l'intérieur du circlip. L'outil comporte une poignée montée sur un moyeu auquel des rayons sont fixés par leur extrémité intérieure. Un ressort hélicoïdal tend à éloigner la poignée du moyeu de façon qu'en position normale de repos les rayons soient rétractés. Une poussée axiale exercée sur la poignée contre la résistance du ressort hélicoïdal a pour effet d'allonger les rayons pour qu'ils poussent contre la périphérie intérieure du circlip et le chassent dans la gorge annulaire du vérin. En tirant sur la poignée, on rétracte les rayons pour pouvoir extraire l'outil du circlip et du vérin hydraulique.
