- 16 - "SNARE AND GUARD THEREFORE" ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Conventional snares are often chewed through by the animal caught therein. The present device includes an automatic guard assembly which drops down the standing part of the cable when the snare is actuated and the standing part is pulled taut. This guard includes a metal tube sliding on the standing part down to the snare lock on the loop or bight portion and the cable guard lock prevents the animal from pushing the tube back up the standing part so that it can get at the standing part in order to chew same.
