BR14731A SOCKET CONTACT WITH LOW INSERTION FORCES ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION There is provided an improved socket contact, adapted to be mated with a corresponding connector pin. The socket has improved surface area of contact, as well as extremely low insertion forces, and is particularly useful in power contact applications. A plunger is spring biased into the cavity of the socket by a pair of C-rings. The plunger provides a force on the pain, as well as a gradual low insertion force for the pin.
