Novel sodium-independent small neutral amino acid transporters which transport L- and D-amino acids. A protein comprising the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 or 4 or an amino acid derived therefrom by deletion, substitution or addition of one or more amino acids and being capable of sodium-independently transporting L- and D-small neutral amino acids and analogs thereof; a gene encoding the above protein; a method of screening substances inhibiting or promoting the function of the above protein; an antibody against the above protein; and a method of regulating cell function by using the above antibody, function inhibitors, function promoters, etc.
L'invention concerne des nouveaux petits transporteurs d'acide aminé neutre qui transportent des L-aminoacides et D-aminoacides. L'invention porte également une protéine comprenant la séquence d'acide aminé représentée par SEQ ID NO : 1 ou 4 ou un acide aminé dérivé de celle-ci par délétion, substitution ou addition d'un ou plusieurs acides aminés, et capable de transporter indépendamment du sodium des L- et D-aminoacides neutres et des analogues de ceux-ci ; un gène codant pour ladite protéine ; un procédé de criblage de substances inhibant ou favorisant la fonction de ladite protéine ; un anticorps dirigé contre ladite protéine ; et un procédé de régulation de la fonction cellulaire au moyen, entre autres, dudit anticorps, des inhibiteurs de fonction et des promoteurs de fonction.
