Soft body armour has a flexible enclosure, and within the flexible enclosure a stack of non-quilted ballistic material sheets which are resiliently suspended within the flexible enclosure so that the stack of non-quilted ballistic material sheets is suspended generally vertically within the flexible enclosure to cover the torso of the user when the flexible enclosure is worn by the user.
