ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and apparatus for manufacturing software is disclosed. Portions of an edit file are labeled with markers. A program model is created which associates each marker with a usage class, a selection class, and a question or other user interface. The usage class and selection class define the manner in which input from the user will be treated, so as to generate compilable source code.
