64159-991 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention is a software program for the rapid design of user interface prototypes of small control panels which includes graphical layouts and functional operability. A device is simulated by choosing components thereof which are given desired locations, appearances and operational functions by the designer. A library of components is provided with all or most components having selectable predetermined actions and reactions which are exhibited when a selected component is operated respectively as either a receiving component or a transmitting component. Components are selected in transmitting and receiving component pairs and a linking system wherein the triggering of a predetermined reaction of a receiving component by a predetermined action of a transmitting component is utilized.
