ABSTRACT A soil-cultivating machine comprising a frame upon which are arranged, side by side, in a row extending at right angles to the direction of travel of the machine, tool-rotors adapted to rotate about an upwardly-directed axis and driven by a divided horizontal drive-shaft united by means of coup- lings. The parts of the drive-shaft are components of the angle-drives which drive the tool-rotors. The horizontal drive-shaft is driven through a main gearbox arranged upon the frame in such a manner as to be in operative connection, through a coupling device located within the main gearbox, with the output-gearwheel thereof. In order to provide, in a simple manner, a wear-resistant and reliable drive, from the main gearbox to the tool-rotors, guide-elements are located between the main gearbox and the drives, immediately adjacent the main gearbox, for the tool-rotors. The guide-elements serve to centre the axes of the drive-shaft parts with the centreline of the output-gearwheel of the main gearbox. The coupling device comprises a coupling part secured firmly to each of the two drive-shaft parts projecting into the main gearbox. The coupling elements thereof engage, within the bearings of the output-gearwheel in the main gearbox, with a certain amount of play, with the coupling elements located upon the output-gearwheel.
