Improved soil release agents for granular laundry detergents, typically used at levels as low as about 1% of a fully-formulated anionic surfactant-containing granular detergent, are reaction products of transesterifying and oligomerizing mixtures of monomers having the functions MO3SC6H4C(O)-, M'O3SC6H3{C(O)O-}2, -(O)CC6H4C(O)- and -OCH2CH2O- wherein M and M'; are independently selected from lithium, potassium and sodium, more preferably sodium; said mixtures having mole ratio of MO3SC6H4C(O)- to -(O)CC6H4C(O)- of from about 0.2:1 to about 1.4:1, mole ratio of MO3SC6H4C(O)- to M'O3SC6H3{C(O)O-}2 of from about 0.67:1 to about 20:1 and mole ratio of MO3SC6H4C(O)- to -OCH2CH2O- of from about 0.007:1 to about 0.51:1 and being substantially free from monomers of formula HOROH wherein R is propylene or higher alkyl.

Agents antisalissures pour détergents de lessive en grains, utilisés habituellement à de faibles concentrations, soit à environ 1 % d'une formulation complète de détergent granulaire renfermant un surfactif anionique; ils sont les produits de réaction de la transestérification et de l'oligomérisation de mélanges de monomères renfermant les fonctions MO3SC6H4C(O)-, M'O3SC6H3{C(O)O-}2, -(O)CC6H4C(O)- et -OCH2CH2O-, où M et M' sont indépendamment du lithium, du potassium ou du sodium, et de préférence du sodium; les taux molaires des mélanges sont d'environ 0,2/1 à 1,4/1 pour MO3SC6H4C(O)-/-(O)CC6H4C(O)-, d'environ 0,67/1 à 20/1 pour MO3SC6H4C(O)-/M'O3SC6H3{C(O)O-}2, et d'environ 0,007/1 à 0,51:1 pour MO3SC6H4C(O)-/-OCH2CH2O-; ils sont à peu près exempts de monomères de formule HOROH, où R est un propylène ou un alkyle supérieur.
