ABSTRACT In a solar collector, an absorber element (2) is enclosed between a supporting panel (3) and a transparent cover (1). The supporting panel is compression moulded of a fiber material with a thermosetting binding agent to a generally trough-like shape having a bottom portion and side walls made integral therewith. According to the invention, the degree of compression of the supporting panel (3) varies such that it is less compressed and has a greater thickness at portions in which the requirement of thermal insulation is high, and more compressed at portions in which the requirement of strength is high.
