ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A solar collector unit of triangular transverse cross section is provided with a corrugated heat trap element on at least the rear vertical wall of the collector. The heat trap element has a V-shaped cross section, the angle of the V being in the range of about 35° to about 55°. The heat trap element, in part, serves to increase the effective heat transfer surface of the collector at relatively little expense. Additionally, the corrugated member serves as a channel for direction of the flow of fluid to be heated through the collector.
