The invention is a means of converting energy from an array of photovoltaic cells to optimize the output power delivered to a load. It uses a buck or forward converter incorporating a supervising microprocessor and a pulse width modulated switching topology to regulate its output. The microprocessor uses the algorithms programmed into it to determine and react to voltage or current mode control requirements. It senses the voltage and/or current output of the photovoltaic array, controls the output voltage and/or current for the purposes of optimizing load requirements and/or maximize the efficiency of converting solar energy to electrical power.

L'invention est un moyen de convertir l'énergie d'une batterie de cellules photovoltaïques pour optimiser la puissance de sortie livrée à une charge. Elle utilise un convertisseur abaisseur de tension ou à transfert direct doté d'un microprocesseur de supervision et une topologie commutatrice modulée en largeur à pulsion pour régulariser la sortie. Le microprocesseur utilise ses algorithmes programmés pour déterminer et réagir aux besoins de contrôle du mode de la tension ou du courant. Il capte la tension et la sortie de courant du générateur photovoltaïque, contrôle la sortie de tension et de courant afin d'optimiser les besoins de charge et de maximiser l'efficacité de conversion de l'énergie solaire en alimentation électrique.
