ABSTRACT A building incorporates a central heating system using a small room heater in the basement and a solar heat absorption assembly on the sunny side of the building. The building is completely heat insulated and air ducts carry air from the basement past the solar heat assembly and into the various rooms. The solar heat assembly also provides warm water which is stored in a tank in the basement. As a further refinement the roof is preferably shaped as a shallow V with a central gutter which is heated by warm air from the solar heat assembly. Snow which has collected on the roof melts only in the vicinity of the gutter and a central drain pipe running through the building carries the melted snow away without the danger of freezing.
