ABSTRACT A multilayer quilt having high absorption of solar energy and having a heat receiving area providing a high thermoconductivity therethrough into liquid and solid surfaces. The guilt has high reception surface area and selected bubbles of entrained elements providing passage therethrough of radiant energy and inhibiting reverse conductive heat loss from the receiving area. The quilt has utility in the solar heating of buildings, heat pump collectors, swimming pools and agricultural growing beds. In the last mentioned application the quilt may also be used to extend the growing season and to collect rain and to divert the latter onto the roots of produce.
