A solar powered water purification system comprising a water inlet, a solar powered purifying means, said solar powered purifying means comprising an elongated solar concentrating means having a parabolic cross-section and a reflective surface on its inside face and covered by a transparent cover allowing the spectrum of sun rays to pass, elongated fluid channeling means, said fluid channeling means comprising a transparent tube means passing through the longitudinal focal point of said solar concentrating means, said elongated solar concentrating means being rotatively mounted around said fluid channeling means by frictionless rotation means, said rotation means allowing for orientation towards the sun, said solar concentrating means feeding purified water to a flow control means, said flow control means being able to stop water flow, divert water to a first reservoir, or back to the source, or to an auxillairy reservoir, or to any other fluid distribution network.
