The invention is directed toward a solder flux and a method of making a solder flux material. The flux includes the cesium fluoroaluminate reaction product of from about 30 to about 75 mole perceht of CsF and from about 70 to about 25 mole percent of A?F3, wherein the flux has a melting point below about 440°C; and, up to about 3 weight percent of unreacted CsF.
