Soldering flux formulations for use in conjunction with lead-free solder which reduces the rate of undesirable precipitate formation in the flux and which reduces the staining on the surfaces of soldered products. Solder flux formulations also maintain fluxing efficiencies and high temperature lifetimes. Flux formulations include fluorine-containing compounds such as fluoroboric acid, ammonium fluoroborate, lithium fluoroborate, sodium fluoroborate, potassium fluoroborate, lithium fluoride, sodium fluoride and potassium fluoride.
