A sole construction for supporting at least a portion of a human foot and for providing energy storage and return is provided. The sole construction includes a generally horizontal layer of stretchable material, at least one chamber positioned adjacent a first side of the layer, and at least one actuator positioned adjacent a second side of the layer vertically aligned with a corresponding chamber. Each actuator has a footprint size smaller than that of the corresponding chamber, and is sized and arranged to provide individual support to the bones of the human foot. The support structure when compressed causes the actuator to push against the layer and move the layer at least partially into the corresponding chamber. In one embodiment, dual action energy storage and rebound is provided by using a plurality of actuators that move both upwardly and downwardly into corresponding chambers. In another embodiment, lateral stability is improved by using tapered actuators having a convex shape to accommodate the natural rolling movement of the foot.
L'invention concerne une construction de semelle servant à soutenir au moins une partie d'un pied humain, et à assurer un stockage d'énergie et un retour de celle-ci. La construction de semelle comporte une couche généralement horizontale de matière étirable, au moins une chambre placée de façon adjacente à une première face de la couche, et au moins un actionneur placé de façon adjacente à une deuxième face de la couche alignée verticalement sur une chambre correspondante. Chaque actionneur présente une taille d'empreinte de pied inférieure à celle de la chambre correspondante, et est conçu pour assurer un support individuel aux os du pied humain. La compression de la structure de support provoque une poussée de l'actionneur contre la couche, et un déplacement au moins partiel de la couche dans la chambre correspondante. Dans un mode de réalisation, une double effet de stockage d'énergie et de rebondissement est assuré par l'utilisation de plusieurs actionneurs qui se déplacent à la fois vers le haut et vers le bas dans des chambres correspondantes. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, la stabilité latérale est accrue par l'utilisation d'actionneurs coniques présentant une forme convexe pour contenir le mouvement de roulement naturel du pied.
