ELECTROMAGNET DEVICE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An electromagnet device comprising a fixed core having two legs defining an opening therebetween, an armature disposed relative to the fixed core such that a zone at one end thereof and a zone at the associated leg portion of the fixed core overlap each other through a gap, and a solenoid coil arranged to encompass these overlapping zones so as to urge the armature toward the fixed core when energized. The magnetic flux produced by the solenoid coil passes substantially wholely through these overlapping zones of wide contact area thereby in- creasing the attracting force attracting the armature toward the fixed core.
