A cassette for a SOFC stack formed by stamping a separator plate, stamping a frame, attaching a PEN cell to the frame, and attaching the frame to the separator plate. An insulating seal, preferably formed of glass, is provided between the PEN cell and the frame to provide electrical isolation between the frame and the separator plate. Electrical isolation is further provided by forming an insulating seal, preferably formed of glass, between the frame and the separator plate. A plurality of cassettes formed may be formed into a SOFC stack by sealing successive cassettes on top of one and another so that the anode side of each cassette is in electrical communication with the cathode side of each adjacent cassette, and forming an electrically isolated and gas tight seal between the frame of each cassette and the separator plate of each adjacent cassette. Separator plates and the frames are configured so that when a series of separator plates and frames having PEN cells are stacked together, (thereby forming a stack alternating between the two; separator plate/frame/separator plate/frame/ etc...), two separate pathways for gaseous flow are formed.

L'invention concerne une cassette pour colonne SOFC formée par poinçonnage d'une plaque de séparation, par poinçonnage d'un cadre, par fixation d'une pile sylo au cadre et par fixation du cadre à la plaque de séparation. Un joint d'étanchéité de préférence en verre, est placé entre la pile stylo et le cadre pour garantir l'isolation électrique entre le cadre et la plaque de séparation. L'isolation électrique est également obtenue par formation d'un joint d'étanchéité, de préférence en verre, entre le cadre et la plaque de séparation. Une pluralité de cassettes peut être formée dans une colonne SOFC par poinçonnage successif des cassettes les unes au dessus des autres de façon à ce que le côté anode de chaque cassette adjacente communique électriquement avec le côté cathode de chaque cassette adjacente, et forme une fermeture isolée électriquement et étanche aux gaz. Les plaques de séparation et les cadres sont configurés pour former deux passages distincts de flux de gaz lorsqu'une série de plaques de séparation et de cadres ayant des piles stylos forme une colonne qui est séparée alternativement par la plaque de séparation et le cadre.
