SOLID PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS A b s t r a c t The present invention relates to solid pharma- ceutical compositions, preferably soft gelatin capsules, comprising a light-sensitive active ingredient optionally being hardly soluble in water, preferably nifedipine [4-(2'-nitrophenyl)- -2,6-dimethyl-3,5-dimethoxycarbonyl-1,4-dihydro- pyridine], together with conventional carriers and/or auxiliary agents, wherein said composition incorporates a vegetable dye. Furthermore the invention is concerned with the preparation of such compositions. The incorporation of a vegetable dye into the capsule filling and optionally into the capsule wall ensures a reliable light protection during the manufacturing and filling operations and improves the solubility of nifedipine in certain carriers.
