SOLID-STATE IMAGING DEVICE Abstract of the Disclosure A solid-state imaging device has on a semiconductor substrate a plurality of photodiodes arrayed in two dimensions. Vertical and horizontal switching MOSFETS select the positions of the photodiodes, and vertical and horizontal scanning circuits provide scanning pulses for controlling the operation of the vertical and horizontal switching MOSFETS. The improvement comprises a clamping circuit, which is made up of a diode, a MOSFET or the like, and which is disposed between the photodiode and a vertical scanning line of the succeeding stage. As a result excess charges overflowing the photodiode are withdrawn from the vertical scanning line through the clamping circuit, preventing blooming.
