A targeted heterogeneous medium in the form of an underground layered formation is gridded into a layered structured grid or a layered semi- unstructured grid. The structured grid can be of the irregular corner-point- geometry grid type or the simple Cartesian grid type. The semi-unstructured grid is areally unstructured, formed by arbitrarily connected control-volumes derived from the dual grid of a suitable triangulation; but the connectivity pattern does not change from layer to layer. Problems with determining fluid movement and other state changes in the formation are solved by exploiting the layered structure of the medium. The techniques are particularly suited for large-scale simulation by parallel processing on a supercomputer with multiple central processing units (CPU's).
L'invention concerne un milieu hétérogène ciblé se présentant sous forme de formation souterraine multicouche, formant une grille structurée multicouche ou une grille semi-structurée multicouche. La grille structurée peut être de type géométrique à coins irréguliers ou de type cartésienne simple. La grille semi-structurée est non structurée d'un point de vue aréal, formée par des volumes de contrôle connectés de manière arbitraire dérivés de la grille double d'une triangulation adaptée, mais le modèle de connectivité ne change pas d'une couche à une autre. Les problèmes de détermination de mouvement de fluide et d'autres changements d'état dans la formation sont résolus par exploitation de la structure multicouche du milieu. Les techniques sont particulièrement adaptées pour une simulation à grande échelle avec un traitement parallèle sur un superordinateur équipé de multiples unités centrales (UCs).
