A solvent recovery section is shown in section (100). The liquid product stream of solvent-containing asphaltene in line (121) is heated by an external source in heat exchanger (124) to form a heated product stream which is applied to lead flash drum (126). The flashing operation effected by drum (126) produces a stream of vaporized solvent in over head (132), and, in lines (127), a reduced solvent liquid product stream containing asphaltene.
