ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process is described for the selective recovery of aluminum from an impure solution in which aluminum is dissolved comprising contacting said solution with symmetrically alkyl- substituted aryl hydrogen phosphate in the hydrogen form to extract the aluminum, and separating the aluminum from said extract.
