A method of refining a petroleum product to remove aromatics and to separate paraffinic oils and waxes is provided. The method involves the utilization of phase equilibria wherein crystallized or solidified waxes, normally present in the pretroleum product, are used to remove oils from a liquid solvent phase containing dissolved aromatics present in the unrefined petroleum product. The wax containing the oils (26) is separated from the aromatic-containing solvent and is further processed to separate the waxes and oils (28). For petroleum products containing little, if any, wax, additional wax may be added and recycled back for further use in removing oils from the petroleum product. The method has particular application in preparing lubricant oils having a high viscosity index, where the presence of aromatics and wax can be detrimental.
L'invention concerne un procédé de raffinage d'un produit pétrolier pour extraire les hydrocarbures aromatiques et pour séparer les huiles paraffiniques et les cires paraffiniques. Le procédé fait appel aux équilibres de phase, selon lesquels des cires solidifiées ou cristallisées, normalement présentes dans le produit pétrolier, sont utilisées pour extraire des huiles d'une phase de solvant liquide contenant des hydrocarbures aromatiques dissous dans le produit pétrolier non raffiné. La cire contenant les huiles (26) est séparée du solvant contenant les hydrocarbures aromatiques, puis elle est traitée pour la séparation des cires et des huiles (28). Dans les produits pétroliers contenant peu de cire ou pas du tout, de la cire supplémentaire peut être ajoutée, puis recyclée en retour pour être utilisée ultérieurement dans l'extraction des huiles d'un produit pétrolier. Ce procédé offre une application particulière dans la préparation d'huiles lubrifiantes à indice de viscosité élevé, où la présence d'hydrocarbures aromatiques et de cire peut être nuisible.
