ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Residual oil is contacted in a solvent refining zone with a refining solvent. First and second mixtures are recovered from the zone and comprise (1) solvent refined oil and refining solvent, and (2) refining solvent and impurities separated from the residue. The first mixture is introduced into a first zone of a combination tower to separate refining solvent from solvent refined oil and the second mixture is introduced into a second zone of the combination tower to separate refining solvent from impurities. The combination tower is operated at a pressure of no greater than 100 PSIG. Solvent refined oil having a reduced quantity of refining solvent, impurities having a reduced quantity of refining solvent, and refining solvent are recovered from the combination tower. Recovered solvent is recycled to -the solvent refining zone.
