A method of fluorinating an organic compound comprising reacting an organic compound with a fluorinating agent characterised in that a perfluorocarbon compound is present in the reaction medium. The perfluorocarbon compound may replace an amount of a solvent which would otherwise be required for the reaction to proceed efficiently. The perfluorocarbon compound is readily recoverable after reaction and may be re-used in subsequent reactions. Additives to the reaction medium, such as 18-crown-6, may increase the amoun of solvent which may be replaced. The method is beneficial where solvent consumption would otherwise be large, or where solvent recovery would otherwise be difficult.
L'invention concerne un procédé de fluoration d'un composé organique, le procédé consistant à mettre en réaction un composé organique avec un agent de fluoration et se caractérisant par le fait qu'un hydrocarbure perfluoré est présent dans le milieu de réaction. L'hydrocarbure perfluoré peut remplacer une quantité de solvant qui aurait été nécessaire pour que la réaction soit efficace. On peut facilement récupérer l'hydrocarbure perfluoré après la réaction et le réutiliser dans des réactions postérieures. Des additifs au milieu de réaction tels que 18-couronne-6 peuvent augmenter la quantité de solvant à remplacer. Le procédé est utile dans des cas où on aurait dû utiliser un solvant en grande quantité ou dans des cas où la récupération du solvant aurait été difficile.
