? 013 Somatotropin Binding Protein Abstract of the Invention The present invention relates to the novel protein and DNA of serum somatotropin binding protein. The novel protein of the present invention uniquely contains a 17 amino acid "tail" on the carboxy terminal of the protein, produced by alternative splicing of RNA for the somatotropin receptor. The present invention also includes a method for identifying the serum somatotropin binding protein separate from the somatotropin receptor protein. This novel protein is useful in altering and affecting growth characteristics of animals.
