Solid combustible to eliminate soot and especially tarry deposits from chimney flues, the said agent comprising a mixture of a specific solid cellulose combustible material, a soot eliminating chemical and/or catalytic agent and a binding agent. Soot and tarry deposits are eliminated by burning the combustible agent in the fireplace. The combustible agent is used in log form.
