A B S T R A C T A soot blower incorporating a lance provided with jets and which passes into a heat exchanger through an opening in its wall, the opening being sealed off by a wall casing. The lance and the wall casing are acted upon by purging and sealing air, which is provided by a compressor arranged on each soot blower.
