ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A support structure for a soot blower assembly of the type having a carriage, a lance and a feed tube. The support structure comprises a lance tube support arm and a feed tube support arm, each of which is in engagement with connecting means. The connecting means maintains a pivotal relationship between the support arms, which alternate in assuming a supporting position and a retracted position. In operation, the soot blower carriage travels toward the supporting arm, passing over the retracted arm. The carriage engages the supporting arm, which pivots first upward and then downward toward the retracted position. As the arm travels downward, the previously retracted arm is pulled into the supporting position by virtue of the downward motion of the first arm and the means which connects them. Thus, as the carriage travels along, the support arm in front of it is retracted so as not to obstruct its path and a support arm behind it is raised. The device works similarly in either direction of travel of the carriage.
