A method of sorting mined material to separate the mined material into at least two categories is disclosed. The method comprises exposing particles of the mined material to microwave energy and heating the particles depending on the susceptibility of the material in the particles. The method also comprises thermally analysing the particles using the temperatures of the particles as a basis for the analysis to indicate composition differences between particles and then sorting the particles on the basis of the results of the thermal analysis. The method also comprises compensating for temperature variations in the mimed material that is supplied to the method.

Linvention concerne un procédé de tri de matière minière permettant de séparer la matière minière en au moins deux catégories. Le procédé comprend lexposition de particules de matière minière à une énergie par micro-ondes et le chauffage des particules en fonction de la sensibilité de la matière dans les particules. Le procédé comprend également l'analyse thermique des particules en utilisant les températures des particules comme base pour l'analyse afin dindiquer les différences de composition entre les particules, et ensuite le tri des particules sur la base des résultats de l'analyse thermique.
