A muffler for an internal combustion engine havinga housing (300) including an inlet opening (310) formed for a flow of exhaust gas into the housing, (300) an outlet opening (320) formed for a discharge of exhaust gas from the housing (300), and inner workings disposed within the housing (300), includinga partition (350) with a first end of the surface pointing toward the inlet opening (310), and widening out at a second end to form a base, the partition (350) having at least two partition openings (380) disposed between the first end and the second end of the exterior surface, wherein the partition (350) is disposed within the housing (300) such that substantially all of the exhaust gas is directed through the partition openings (380) and into an interior of the partition (350), before being discharged through the outlet opening (320).

L'invention concerne un silencieux pour moteur à combustion interne, qui comprend: a) un boîtier présentant: i) un orifice d'admission d'un flux de gaz d'échappement s'écoulant vers l'intérieur du boîtier; ii) un orifice de sortie conçu pour décharger le gaz d'échappement du boîtier; et b) des mécanismes internes disposés à l'intérieur du boîtier et comprenant: i) une cloison dont une première extrémité de la surface pointe vers l'orifice d'admission et qui s'élargit au niveau d'une seconde extrémité pour former une base, ladite cloison comportant au moins deux ouvertures ménagées entre la première extrémité et la seconde extrémité de la surface extérieure. La cloison est disposée à l'intérieur du boîtier, de sorte que presque tout le gaz d'échappement est acheminé par les orifices vers une partie intérieure de la cloison avant d'être déchargé par l'orifice de sortie.
