A sound-deadening material is described for use in sound deadening within metal panels of an automobile. The material comprises a non-woven fabric with a mouldable impregnant composition. The sound-deadening material may be moulded substantually to the shape of an associated panel. The impregnant composition comprises carboxylated styrene-butadiene co-polymers along with a mineral filler and other property specific constituents such as fire retardents. The non-woven fabric includes at least 10 % polyester fusible fibres. The impregnant composition is most conveniently achieved by combining at least 15 % carboxylated styrene-butadiene co-polymer with more than 55 % of this co-polymer being styrene with at least 5 % carboxylated styrene-butadiene co-polymer with not more than 50 % of this co-polymer being styrene along with at least 50 % of the impregnant being a mineral filler such as spesclay.
La présente invention se rapporte à un matériau amortissant le bruit, utilisé pour l'amortissement du bruit à l'intérieur des panneaux d'une automobile. Le matériau comporte un non-tissé avec une composition moulable d'imprégnation. Le matériau amortissant le bruit peut être moulé pratiquement à la forme du panneau associé. La composition d'imprégnation comprend des copolymères de styrène-butadiène carboxylés avec une substance minérale de remplissage, ainsi que d'autres constituants dotés de propriétés spécifiques tels que des ignifugeurs. Le non-tissé comporte au moins 10 % de fibres fusibles de polyester. On produit la composition d'imprégnation le plus facilement en combinant au moins 15 % de copolymère de styrène-butadiène carboxylé comportant plus de 55 % de styrène avec au moins 5 % de copolymère de styrène-butadiène carboxylé ne comportant pas plus de 50 % de styrène, ainsi qu'avec au moins 50 % d'une substance d'imprégnation, c'est-à-dire une substance minérale de remplissage telle que l'argile.
