ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A sound insulation structure adapted to be set in a window or door frame for protecting the house from sounds or noi- ses transmitted through the windor or door from the outside. This sound insulation structure comprises three sheets of transparent material in a parallel-spaced relationship to each other, and a sheet edge holding structure of elastic material having three grooves for holding therein the respective edges of the three sheets. According to the invention the intermediate sheet has a greater thickness than the other two sheets and is mounted in the intermediate groove of the holding structure so that it may vibrate freely independently of the other two sheets when a sound from the outside transmits through the three sheets, the other two sheets being rigidly secured in their respective grooves in the holding structure, and the inner wall surfaces of the holding structure between the sheets of transparent material are provided with sound absorbing means.
