A lightweight, buoyant cover that fits over the opening of a spa consisting of an outer skin of two pieces of lightweight, waterproof material stitched together around a core consisting of light, fibrous filler material which has a low water absorptive quotient and a buoyancy layer of lightweight plastic embedded with air pockets. The outer skin has a flap reinforced with an extra layer of material which is shaped to overhang the edges of the spa opening, enhancing the heat seal. Together, the outer skin and core are sufficiently light and buoyant to float on the spa water. There are a pair of capped drains each embedded the bottom half of the outer skin each near opposite corners so that, when both drains are opened, air can be blown or vacuumed through the inside of the cover for quick and effective drying.
