A space heater comprises a housing (4) having a rear wall (8) and a front wall (10). Located forwardly of the front wall is a solid fuel effect means (12). Heating means is provided, in conventional manner. Suspended within the housing (4) by an upper support (30) is a flame effect means which in a preferred embodiment is in the form of a sheet of lightweight flexible material, the sheet being provided with elongate openings (20). Means (18) is provided to cause the sheet (14) to move, specifically by directing a flow of air upwardly against the material, to cause the material to billow. Light is directed from a light source (28) against the flame effect means, some light being reflected from the flame effect means directly through a translucent screen (24), some light passing through openings (20) of the sheet (14) onto a reflector (32), and being reflected from the reflector back through the sheet (14), and through the screen (24).
L'invention se rapporte à un radiateur indépendant comprenant un logement (4) comportant une paroi arrière (8) et une paroi frontale (10). Un moyen d'effet combustible solide (12) est placé à l'avant de la paroi frontale. Des moyens de chauffage sont installés de manière classique. Un moyen d'effet flammes est suspendu à l'intérieur du logement (4) par un support supérieur (30), ledit moyen se présentant, dans le mode de réalisation préféré, sous la forme d'une feuille de matériau souple et léger, la feuille étant dotée d'ouvertures allongées (20). Des moyens (18) ont pour effet de faire bouger la feuille (14), notamment par l'intermédiaire d'un flux d'air dirigé vers le haut contre le matériau, ce qui cause l'ondulation de ce dernier. De la lumière est dirigée depuis une source lumineuse (28) contre le moyen d'effet flammes, une partie de la lumière étant directement réfléchie par le moyen d'effet flammes à travers un écran translucide (24), une partie de la lumière passant à travers des ouvertures (20) ménagées dans la feuille (14) et étant dirigée sur un réflecteur (32) puis réfléchie par le réflecteur pour repasser à travers la feuille (14) et l'écran (24).
