SPARK IGNITION SYSTEM FOR GAS GRILLS Abstract of the Disclosure A gas grill having a food supporting rack spaced above a gas burner includes a spark ignition system provided by a pair of electrodes mounted adjacent the burner and having spaced facing surfaces defining a spark gap. A shield member is positioned between the rack and the electrodes for preventing food droppings falling through the rack from con- tacting at least the facing surfaces of the electrodes The shield member is positioned for impingement by flame from the burner for cleaning deposits from the member by inciner- ation.
