A proton exchange polarizer with a spatial filter positioned to reduce cross coupling of unguided radiation. A photoconductor substrate is fabricated from LiNbO3 or LiTaO3. The substrate has a spatial filter located at a primary reflection point on a bottom of the substrate so as to block unguided TM mode light from reaching the output of the substrate. The spatial filter is fabricated by physical or chemical methods such as saw cutting, diamond machining, etching, micro-machining, laser-machining and/or damaging the surface of the substrate. The unguided TM mode light is attenuated by blockage or interruption of the transmissive region.
L'invention concerne un polariseur à échange de protons, avec un filtre spatial pour réduire le couplage croisé des rayonnements non guidés. Un substrat photoconducteur est fabriqué en LiNbO¿3? ou en LiTaO¿3?. Ce substrat comporte un filtre spatial placé au niveau d'un point de réflexion primaire sur un fond du substrat, de manière à guider la lumière en mode TM non guidée et l'empêcher d'atteindre la sortie du substrat. Le filtre spatial est fabriqué selon des procédés physiques ou chimiques tels que le découpage à la scie, l'usinage au diamant, l'attaque chimique, le micro-usinage, l'usinage au laser et/ou l'attaque de surface du substrat. La lumière en mode TM non guidée est atténuée par blocage ou interruption de la zone de transmission.
