Apparatus, and a corresponding method, for spatially isolating a transmit beam and a receive beam, which, in satellite communication systems, are inherently separated by a look ahead angle. A receive beam separation mirror is positioned in the receive beam path but out of the transmit beam path, and the receive beam is reflected along a path separated from the transmit beam path. The mirror may be annular, allowing the transmit beam to be directed through the center of the mirror. In applications where a desired isolation angle is different from the look ahead angle, or where there is no look ahead angle, the receive beam separation mirror is used in conjunction with a dichroic beam splitter and at least one receive beam steering mirror, to achieve the desired angular separation.

L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé correspondant permettant d'isoler sur le plan spatial un faisceau d'émission et un faisceau de réception intrinsèquement séparés, dans des systèmes de communications par satellite, par un angle d'anticipation. Un miroir de séparation du faisceau de réception est positionné dans le chemin du faisceau de réception et hors du chemin du faisceau d'émission et le faisceau de réception est réfléchi le long d'un chemin séparé du chemin du faisceau d'émission. Le miroir peut être annulaire de manière à diriger le faisceau d'émission à travers le centre du miroir. Dans des applications dans lesquelles un angle d'isolation souhaité est différent de l'angle d'anticipation ou dans lesquelles il n'y pas de tel angle, le miroir de séparation du faisceau de réception est utilisé conjointement avec un diviseur de faisceau dichroïque et au moins un miroir de direction du faisceau de réception, de manière à obtenir la séparation angulaire souhaitée.
