ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The speaker membrane comprises two layers of paper bonded to an intermediate layer of a synthetic plastic material. The plastic material has a plurality of small discontinuities and has an elastic modulus of more than 25,000 daN/cm2. The thickness of the intermediate layer is approximately one to three times the thickness of one of the paper layers. The membrane is particularly light and inherently rigid.
