Abstract Apparatus and technique for supervising the integrity of a transmission path and a plurality of speakers in a public address system and more specifically, for responding to a sub- stantial change in the impedance f the transmission path due to an open circuit condition or a short circuit condition and employing a three-line transmission path to the speakers. First and second comparators are used for responding to the open cir- cuit and short circ??t conditions, respectively. The second comparator controls a relay, and when the second comparator de- tects a short circuit, it causes the relay to create an open circuit condition thereby causing the first comparator to func- tion; whereby the first comparator responds to both an open and a short circuit condition.
