ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A specific binding assay method and reagent means, e.g., a test kit, for determining an analyte in a liquid medium, employing as the label an immunological binder, e.g., an antibody or a fragment thereof, which modulates the catalytic activity of an enzyme. In one embodiment, the immunological binder is an inhibitor of such enzymatic activity. The present invention provides a particularly advantageous homogeneous specific binding assay method, and corresponding reagent means, for the determination of a wide variety of analytes in a wide variety of formats.
