The present invention relates to Ca2+ channel blockers and more particularly to the R-type Ca2+ channel blockers. More specifically, the invention relates to Ca2+ channel blockers activity of Mandevilla velutina and Mandevilla illustris. The present invention further concerns saponin-like compounds isolated from Mandevilla species. The present invention also relates to the treatment of several pathologies that involve the nifedipine-insensitive but isradipine sensitive steady-state R- type Ca2+ channel and the use of steady-state R-type Ca2+ channel blockers in the treatment of these pathologies.
L'invention concerne des inhibiteurs des canaux calciques Ca<2+> et concerne plus particulièrement les inhibiteurs des canaux calciques Ca<2+> de type R. L'invention concerne de manière plus concrète l'activité des inhibiteurs des canaux calciques Ca<2+> de Mandevilla velutina et Mandevilla illustris. L'invention concerne en outre des composés de type saponine isolés de l'espèce Mandevilla. L'invention concerne aussi le traitement de plusieurs maladies qui affectent le canal calcique Ca<2+> de type R à état stable non sensible à la nifédipine mais sensible à l'isradipine et l'utilisation des inhibiteurs des canaux calciques Ca<2+> de type R à état stable pour le traitement de ces maladies.
