A wireless system comprising a network of base stations (1) for receiving uplink signals transmitted from a plurality of remote terminals and for transmitting downlink signals to the remote terminals using a plurality of channels including a plurality of antenna elements (19) at each base station for receiving uplink signals, a plurality of antenna elements (18) at each base station for transmitting downlink signals, a signal processor (13) at each base station connected to the receiving antenna elements (19) and to the transmitting antenna elements (18) for determining spatio-temporal multiplexing and demultiplexing functions for each remote antenna for each channel, and a multiple base station network controller for optimizing network performance, whereby communication between the base stations and the remote terminals in each channel can occur simultaneously.

La présente invention concerne un système de communications sans fil comprenant un réseau de stations de base (1) permettant de recevoir des signaux de liaison montante émis depuis une pluralité de terminaux à distance et permettant d'émettre des signaux de liaison descendante vers ladite pluralité de terminaux à distance en utilisant une pluralité de canaux comportant une pluralité d'éléments antenne (19) situés à chaque station de base de façon à recevoir des signaux de liaison montante et une pluralité d'éléments antenne (18) situés à chaque station de base permettant de transmettre des signaux de liaison descendante. Le système de communications sans fil comporte, également, un processeur (13) de signaux situé à chaque station de base, connecté aux éléments antenne récepteurs (19) et émetteurs (18) de façon à déterminer des fonctions de multiplexage/démultiplexage spatio-temporelles pour chaque antenne de terminal à distance de chaque canal. Il comporte encore un contrôleur de réseau de station de base multiple optimisant une performance de réseau permet le déroulement simultané des communications, entre lesdites stations de base et les terminaux à distance dans chaque canal.
