ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A speech recognition apparatus comprises means for inputting speech, speech analysis means for extracting a feature of the input speech, recognition means for recognizing phonemes or syllables which are elements of the input speech based on the feature of the input speech extracted by the speech analysis means, a first stage of neural network for receiving the phoneme string or syllable string produced by the recog- nition means and correcting a recognition error due to an affect of co-artifallation and the recognition means, and a second stage of neural network for hypothesizing contents of words or syllables of the input speech. - 18 -
